One of the real pleasures of motorcycling is touring on
the open road. Others have expressed it better than I, but there's something
about the feeling of freedom and unexpected adventure that comes, closeness to
the sights, smells, sounds and feel of the open road, and the excitement
engendered by the risks involved. I like to ride on secondary roads where all of
these things are more abundant, plus I get to see parts of the country that I
wouldn't notice from the interstate highways. I sometimes tour 2-up with Elaine,
sometimes with my buddy Paul - each on our own bikes, and sometimes just by
myself. Each has its advantage, but the feeling of adventure seems a bit more
pronounced when I'm on my own.
So here are brief photo accounts of some of my more
memorable trips. It was a thrilling experience for me. I hope you enjoy viewing
these pages and that you get just a little idea of what touring is like.
- NW Pennsylvania - my first 2-day trip, taken soon
after acquiring the K75
- West Virginia - the great roads of southeast Ohio and
West Virginia , with my life-long friend Paul Wilson
- Gaspe Peninsula - the eastern portion of Quebec
Province, 2-up with Elaine
- Newfoundland - again 2-up with Elaine, and also with
Paul and Linda
- Alaska - my next big trip, planned for Summer 2007
The "Triple Nickel" in southern Ohio
