Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry into Values
Robert M. Pirsig, 1999.

The classic piece of literature about motorcycles and living.  "The narration of a summer motorcycle trip undertaken by a father and his son ... becomes a personal and pohilosophical odyssey into fundamental questions of how to live."

Riding with Rilke: Reflections on Motorcycles and Books
Ted Bishop, 2005.

An English professor writes a great narrative about his motorcycle trip from Canada to Texas to research rare book archives. "His quest - to unite the scholar and the motorcyclist, the academic life with the life of the sensed - is a reminder of the struggle we all face in reconciling the personal and the professional. "

Braking the Limit: One Woman's Motorcycle Journey through North America Karen Larsen, 2004.

After completing her masters in public administration, Karen Larsen rides her Harley Sporster solo from New Jersey to Alaska in search of adventure, reflection, and family she yet to meet.

Long Way Round: Chasing Shadows Around the World
Ewan McGregor and Charley Moorman, 2004.

Not great literature, but an interesting story of Ewan and Charley's motorcycle trip on BMW R1100GSs from England across northern Asia through Alaska to New York City. Also the subject of a TV series.

The BMW "Prayer"

Our BMW
Which art in the garage
Hallowed be thy drive shaft

Thy service interval come
Thy will be done
At Max's as it is in North Hampton

Give us this day our daily gasoline
And forgive us our double line passes,
As we forgive those on cell phones who do not see us.

And lead us not into cheap Japanese bikes,
But deliver us from poverty.
For thine is the B,
and the M,
and the W,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
